As since Innolumis was founded in 2008, Dutch drinking water companies have chosen to use Innolumis lighting at their sites.
Provinciaal Waterbedrijf Noord Holland (PWN), Dunea in South Holland and Brabant Water have now equipped many of their sites where water is extracted with mostly coloured Innolumis lighting.
This is because many of these sites are located in rural areas where light pollution and nature conservation play a major role. The most commonly used colours involve Golden Green and Moonlight, colours with a green component in the light source.
The warm colours fit well in often sensitive areas and are used in the Mini Nicole and Nicole luminaire series, where the light sources are placed deeper in the luminaire to minimise stray light towards the surroundings. The luminaires also feature a flat glass panel so that only the area that is actually needed is illuminated.
Furthermore, the lighting is also applied as so-called scare lighting where the lights only turn on based on detection if someone should have evil intentions.
