Municipality of De Bilt speeds up sustainability of public lighting

2 December 2025

De Bilt is perhaps best known as the location of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), which has been based here since 1897. This prestigious organisation has put De Bilt on the map as a centre for weather and climate research in the Netherlands. Years ago, Innolumis replaced the exterior lighting on the KNMI premises with the special Moonlight light colour. But it didn't stop there.

Meanwhile, many street lights in the various cores of this municipality have already been replaced by Innolumis lighting. Among others, the Mini Nicole, the Nicole, the Mini Victoria and the Ariane can be admired in the Bilt streetscape.

In the coming period, work and investments will continue to accelerate the conversion of existing conventional public lighting to LED lighting. Together with the municipality of de Bilt, Buro-33 and installer Speer Infra from Naarden, Innolumis is working hard to realise this conversion.

We therefore thank the municipality of de Bilt and Buro-33 for their confidence in the company and product, and Speer Infra for the expert installation of the luminaires.
