CSR

At Innolumis, we strongly believe in corporate social responsibility. We were founded in 2008 with the aim of developing, manufacturing and introducing better, more efficient and more energy-saving street lighting into the public lighting market. Now, many years later, this is still our starting point with now greatly improved techniques and components.

Meanwhile, reducing global CO2 emissions is at the top of every list of measures to stop the earth from warming up further. Replacing the mostly energy-inefficient conventional street lighting faster and on a larger scale with more sustainable LED lighting saves a lot of energy but also on maintenance. By applying our energy-efficient luminaires, savings of 30 to 80% can be realised compared to the old situation in certain cases.

Besides providing high-quality and sustainable lighting solutions, we strive to have a positive impact on people and the environment. Circularity, local sourcing and social entrepreneurship now play a central role in our operations. By keeping our production close to home, we not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also contribute to local employment and social inclusion.

We are committed to taking responsibility for the world we live and work in. By constantly striving to improve and innovate, we aim to bring about positive change and enable a sustainable future for all.
Together, we can make that difference.

Social entrepreneurship

At Innolumis, we not only embrace social responsibility, but make it an integral part of our operations. Since 2015, we have been producing all our luminaires in close cooperation with social development companies, with Metafors and iederz becoming our regular assembly partners. In total, around 40 people with a distance to the labour market are involved daily in producing our high-quality lighting fixtures.

The fact that our production takes place entirely with these partners not only makes us proud, but is also a powerful statement about our belief in inclusiveness and diversity in the workplace.
We believe that everyone, regardless of background or disability, adds value and is part of our success story.

But our collaboration goes beyond production. We also strive to learn and grow together. That is why we actively invest in integrating new technologies in the workplaces of our social partners. By sharing knowledge and expertise, we contribute to the development of these employees.

At Innolumis, we are not just about making high-quality lighting solutions; we are also committed to building an inclusive and just society. Together with our social partners, we continue to strive for a world where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

In this way, Innolumis fulfils social entrepreneurship in the purest sense of the word.

Sustainable

Circularity

Circularity also plays an increasingly important role in our operations. We believe that conserving resources and minimising waste are crucial for a sustainable future. Our commitment to circularity goes beyond designing energy-efficient luminaires; we also focus on extending the lifespan of our products, promoting re-use and developing measurable circular solutions.

As an active member of the Circularity Working Group of Public Lighting Netherlands (OVNL), we contribute to the joint efforts to further develop circularity within the sector. This working group enables us to work together with other frontrunners in the market on innovative, sustainable solutions for public lighting. We are committed to sharing our expertise and contributing to a broader transition to a circular economy.

In collaboration with other market players, we were also part of the Measurable Circular project group, where we contributed to the development of a methodology to calculate the Environmental Cost Indicator (EQI) of our luminaires. This methodology allows us to map the environmental impact of our products in a transparent and consistent way, which helps us to further improve our circular processes.

In developing our latest luminaires, we have specifically considered the ability to replace parts and easily repair the products during their design. This significantly extends the lifetime of our luminaires, which is not only better for the environment, but also for our customers, who can benefit from long-term performance and lower costs in the long run. In addition, we use reusable parts as much as possible, creating a closed loop.

Even at end-of-life, our luminaires remain of value. We gladly take them back to refurbish them and reuse them. This aligns perfectly with our commitment to a fully circular business, where nothing goes to waste and everything gets a new use.

Sustainable

Local products

We strongly believe in the importance of local production. All our luminaires are assembled entirely in the Netherlands at social development companies, and all aluminium components are also powder coated in the Netherlands. By manufacturing locally as much as possible, we contribute to strengthening the production climate in the Netherlands and support employment in our immediate surroundings. Moreover, we buy a large proportion of our components in the Netherlands and Europe, reinforcing our commitment to quality and sustainability.

Local production offers us numerous advantages. It allows us to remain flexible and respond quickly to our customers' specific requirements. Whether it is customised solutions or last-minute adjustments, we can respond efficiently and at short notice thanks to our local partners. This translates into significantly shorter delivery times, giving customers quick access to our high-quality lighting solutions.

In addition, our local production ensures that we can also act quickly in case of unexpected defects or repairs. Because we assemble our fittings entirely in the Netherlands, we have immediate access to the right parts and can make repairs quickly, which minimises downtime and ensures continuity.

We consciously choose local, not only because of the economic benefits, but also because it helps minimise our environmental footprint. By producing and sourcing locally within Europe, we limit long transport distances and reduce CO2 emissions. In this way, we contribute to a more sustainable future for everyone.
