Earth Hour again next weekend

26 March 2026

Earth Hour is an international event that calls on households and businesses to turn off lights and other electrical equipment in their homes for 1 hour. The event will take place again this year on the last weekend of March when daylight saving time also starts. Earth Hour was created to promote energy conservation and reduce carbon emissions.

The event is sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The first Earth Hour was held in Sydney between 19:30 and 20:30 on 31 March 2007. On Saturday 28 March 2026 from 20:30 to 21:30, people around the world will again turn off the lights for 1 hour wherever possible to draw attention to the Earth's natural environment. This global movement sends a powerful signal: we must move from loss of nature to gain of nature. It is possible, if we choose it together.

Innolumis also warmly supports this initiative because we were once founded to accelerate the conversion of energy-guzzling and outdated street lighting to energy-efficient alternatives such as LED lighting.

With our special LED lighting in 9 different colour spectra, we do our bit to reduce light pollution for people, animals and the environment. For instance, we have developed bat-friendly and migratory bird-friendly lighting that interferes less with the natural habitat of these birds and mammals.
